Kuppam is a census town in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. It is about 105 km from Bangalore and 250 km from Chennai by rail.
Geography
Kuppam is the southernmost part of Andhra Pradesh, located at the intersection of three states viz. Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Chennai to Bangalore railway line passes through Kuppam.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census, Kuppam had a population of 18,803. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Kuppam has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 62%. The official language of Kuppam is Telugu while majority also speak Tamil and Kannada due to its proximity to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka respectively.

Transport
Being at the meeting point of three states, Kuppam is well connected by road and rail. Also, due to its proximity to major metros Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Bangalore (Karnataka), majority of buses run through the place. Kuppam is serviced by state corporation APSRTC and bus services run by neighboring state corporations viz. Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation and Karnataka State Transportation. Kuppam has regular bus services towards Chennai, Bangalore, Tirupathi, Nellore, Chittoor, Madanapalle, Palamaner, Kolar, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi and Gudiyatham, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kadapa and other places.
Kuppam is well connected by train services from Chennai and Bangalore. There are about ten trains running between Bangalore and Kuppam everyday and four trains running between Chennai and Kuppam. The first train from Bangalore is at 6:30 AM and from Chennai the first train is at 7:50 AM. The last train from Kuppam to Bangalore is at 7:38 PM and to Chennai is at 4:40 PM. Bangalore to Kuppam takes about 2 hours by train and Chennai to Kuppam takes about 4.5 hrs by Train.
